Archive mbox files

Mail Archiver X can archive mbox files without any mail client. For instance, even if you can't use Eudora on Lion anymore Mail Archiver X can import old mbox files from Eudora.

Built-in email viewer

The built-in browser has the familar 3-pane interface of every mail client.

Flexible Formats

There are 2 main formats: the internal database and - if you have a Filemaker license - a free and open Filemaker template. If you archive to the internal database you can export the complate or partial data to Evernote, Filemaker, PDF, mbox, Text (csv), or XML.

Each format has options to tailor the export to your needs. The screenshot shows the options for exporting to PDF.

Set up once and forget: the Scheduler

It's just a bit annoying to remember to do something. This is why the Scheduler is the most important new feature of Mail Archiver X 3.

How to set up Mail Archiver X

Options for mailbox selection

Go to the next tabsheet Mailboxes.

Select if you want to move your mails to the trash after archiving. This will make your email client blazingly fast again. The mails are only deleted in your mail client and not in Mail Archiver X.

You also have the possibility to restrict archival by date or age of mails. Either you can use a date range (archive everything from 01-Jan-2013 to 01-Oct-2013) or in an age range (archive everything older than 100 days but younger than a year). You only have to use one date/age (archive everything older than 31-Dec-2013 or older than a year).

Some options for mailbox archival

Select the format

If you have Filemaker license you can archive directly to Filemaker. Otherwise, leave the Data Format at Internal Database. You can always export to any other format after archival.
